Subject: Quoting Problems! (fwd)
Date: Feb 11 09:41:49 1999
From: Dan Victor - dcv at scn.org

Dear Tweets,

I'm forwarding a nicely expressed message regarding problems with
yesterday's digest message. One poster replied to the digest without
editing out the whole quoted digest message. The end result was the next
digest was *twice* as big and very hard to read.

Two other posters used text + html format to post. These messages end up
being twice the size + the html coding is very ugly to read. Please use
plain text only. I will contact these people privately.

Thanks for your help in keeping Tweeters running smoothly,

Dan,

Since you're the "list mom", maybe you should bring this up to the
Tweeter's List.

Some people are quoting ENTIRE DIGESTS in their replies, making the
Tweeter's Digests indigestible! For the past several days my digests
have been coming in HUGE files. Digest 1666 was quoted in whole!

Please remind the listers to CUT AND PASTE when replying and quoting.
Also request the folks to REMOVE all the headers and other routing stuff
before sending off notes.

Another problem I'm having is with notes that are sent in HTML and normal
text. Not everyone has e-mail that does HTML, and all HTML does is make
the digests and e-mail huge. HTML is an option that can be turned on or
off. Please have the listers turn OFF the HTML when writing to any list.
HTML is very annoying!
