Hello Tweets!

While out on a wonderful birding trip at the Green River Natural Resouce
Area (Kent Ponds) with Rainier Audubon, I was treated to a pair of
American Kestrals, the comedy of crows picking on a fleeing barn owl, a
fully mature Bald Eagle soaring overhead, a Perigrine perching on a snag,
and an unidentified large bird of prey soaring in the air
currents-flaping its wings only once as it soared over the ponds.

But I had to cut my visit due to strange chirppings coming from my fanny
pack. I thought it was my pager, but upon arriving home to return the
apparent four calls, I discovered something totally different.

I soon discovered a rare Pigmy Paraguyan gross billed, teal winged
bristled butt snuggled inside, singing it's lonely mating call! It must
have stowed away in a shipment of South American leather goods, one that
included my fanny pack........

Malfunctioning pagers can be such a pain in the butt!

Later,
Lydia
