Hello Tweeters,
This Trip was made strictly to find the Sharp-tailed Grouse on the spot
where we had 16 Sharp-tailed Grouse on the 5th of February of last
year. This birds was sitting in the water birch trees than, due to much snow
on the ground feeding on the buds of the tree.Since there is no snow on
most hills the grouse have other sources to feed. No SHARP-TAILED GROUSE
this year.
But we was rewarded today to see 52 SAGE GROUSE of HYW.17 on a dirt road
call PN-E near Leahy.
There where 48 females and 3 males in two groups.
We did manage to see 20 Rosy Finches on Lake Lenoure and 5 Trumpeter Swans.
We also had 18 Snow Buntings between HYW. 172 and HYW. 2.
We stayed overnight in Cenral Ferry Canyon Where we was Owling, only to
find 2 Greater Horned Owls, where we had 3 Northern Saw-whet Owls last
Year.
We only counted 43 Species of birds, since most little ponds was still
frozen.
