I am out in Westcrest Park Monday afternoon, learning how to use the camera
and taking pictures for my article on the Westcrest Park land swap (a most
contentious issue), and I hear the unmistakable piping cry of a bald eagle.
Two eagles land in a hemlock scarcely 30 feet in front of me, and they perch
for several minutes, affording all who heard the cry ample opportunity to
have a good look.

Numerous towhees calling in the bushes, several Song Sparrows, a
hummingbird (a black form on a grey sky, inconclusive identification),
several Bewick's wrens, many American robins.
