Well we have had the vote we've had the discussion now lets have the
conclusion
(1) I lied when i told the story about the hummer in Maple bay and i'm
sorry but it stopped the nitpicking which was going on. It was a good
story and it goes to show just how hard it is to judge a bird record,
going on the correspondence i recieved a lot of you believed my story
and again i'm sorry i misled you
(2) Denny Granstrand vote was taken and i believe 4 people decided to
vote 3 to 1 in favour, not overwhelming was it in fact not much
different to the B.C. commitee's vote.
I'm sure you dont want to do it again. So lets leave the hummer in limbo
for now.
I believe most of the the disgruntled birders were from south of the
border, B.C. border that is, so this is what i propose all you americans
can accept the record this will of course include Wayne Weber who has
spent a lot of time in Washington State and so can be classed as half
american and us in B.C. will wait and see if a pattern emmerges over the
next 1000 years or so
(3) I liked what Sharon Huffman from Alaska put on tweeters and i quote
UNPROVEN NOT GUILTY
So for all you americans so as to keep your list in proper taxanomic
order i suggest you insert the Xantus's Hummingbird as follows:
O.J.SIMPSON
XANTUS'S HUMMINGBIRD
BILL CLINTON
You all enjoy your birding now you here
