Happy Monday Tweeters!!!

On Sunday, February 21st I led a group of Mountaineers on a "whirlwind"
tour of the Nisqually Delta.

Whirlwind is the best adjective to describe our day. The eight of us
were armed with binoculars and we really tried to do some bird watching.

The wind was against us....beside us, behind us. We spied some Gold
Crowned Kinglets flittering from branch to branch near the Twin Barns,
and one very miserable hunkered down Great Blue Heron, trying to walk in
the wind. Even the Canada Geese were hunkered down in a field between
the parking lot and Twin Barns. The gulls weren't even flying very much.

We sighted two very large birds of prey having great difficulty flying in
the wind. One appeared to have reddish-brown on the underside of its
wings.

My group enjoyed the hike, and most expressed interest going back on a
less windy day. After the hike three of us toured the exhibits in the
Twin Barn to thaw out and relax before hitting the road back home.

Oh, and here's a bit of unsolicited "advertising". On your way home be
sure and stop at the *loneliest Starbucks* in the world. It's at Exit
119, on the west side of I-5. This brand new Starbucks is in the first
building of a new office and hotel complex under construction at DuPont.
The only other business in this complex is a dry cleaners.

Have a great week folks!
