The eagles at GreenLake were seen and reported by M.Muller (2/20/99)to be
doing "nest building activity"(maybe just practice) at the Lower Woodland
Park area which is across the lake from where the trees were removed, and
yes, the eagles, probably being good Seattle urban re-cyclers took
advantage of the branches before they were chipped. Unfortunately about a
week before I had noticed a pair of Chickadees house hunting in the area( ie
checking out holes/loose bark etc.) but I am guessing they will find another
place. I do question why the cottonwoods are being replace with poplars? I
would like to see more native trees planted in the area.
As to my not mentioning nurseries in my post about planting for birds, I am
sorry! Ther are many helpful nursery folk around this area!
