In my other posting, I mentioned using a scope on a window mount --
something new for me.

I've been missing birds -- too far to ID with binos from the car, but when
I get out of the car to use my scope they flush, or just decide it's time
to leave. (Is it my breath?)

I use the typical (for birders) Bogen 3221 (3021) tripod with the
wonderful 3130 quick- release Bogen Micro Fluid head -- IMO, the perfect
combination for birding, in spite of its weight.

The quick release allows me to easily mount my long lenses when I want
photos (I got extra quick-release plates for my long lenses).

So, I gave in to the ABA Sales-promoted Bogen Window Pod, and another
3130 head. This is a really expensive solution ($21.70 plus $69.95), but
I discovered in just one day it's worth every penny. I should have done
it years ago! I now keep my camera on long lens, and my scope, on the
front seat. I just mount the window pod, and click the scope or camera on
it as I need. If I want to use the tripod, I just get out, set it up, and
click the scope or camera on it (and watch the bird flush <G>).
