This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Saturday, February 27th, 9:50
PM update.

Featured bird is Pacific Golden Plover.

Before tonight's sightings the following should be noted about the location
change for this coming Thursday's, VNHS Birder's Night.

The location for this meeting only has been changed to the York House
School at the southwest corner of the Granville Street and West King
Edward. Parking is available in a lot on West 26th Avenue one block south
of King Edward. Street parking is also available. The meeting room is
located in the basement of the building closest to Granville. The meeting
room entrance is roughly in the middle of the west side of the building.
This door only opens from the Inside. If you arrive after the meeting has
started the door will be checked every several minutes to let in late
arrivals.

Sightings for Saturday, February 27th
A HARRIS'S SPARROW and an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW were seen in the front yard
of 13846 - 40th Ave. Surrey.

From a field near the end of 64th St. Delta a PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER was
heard calling but couldn't be located.

In a flock of 500 DUNLIN along the Iona/Sea Island causeway were 18 WESTERN
SANDPIPERS.


Friday, February 26th
The PRAIRIE FALCON was reported from it's usual location at the foot of
34th in Delta.

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen grazing with Canada Geese at the
Burnaby Lake Sports Centre on Kennsington Ave. in Burnaby.

A GREEN HERON was observed near the residence of 4637 W 37th in Vancouver..

A single ROCK SANDPIPER was sighted at Stanley Park's Ferguson Point.


Thursday, February 25th
In a late report for Thursday a CLARK'S GREBE was located in the North Arm
of the Fraser River near Grauer Rd. west of the Arthur Laing Bridge.

A male TUFTED DUCK was seen with a small flock of Scaup on Stanley Park's
Lost Lagoon.

From the Reifel Refuge came a report for the GYRFALCON, 2 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT HERON, 11 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and 4 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS.

A GOLDEN PLOVER was sighted along 64th south of the railway crossing.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on the dike west of 72nd.

Seven SNOW BUNTINGS were observed on the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

Boundary Bay Regional Park was the location for 140 BRANT and a SHORT-EARED
OWL. Also reported from this location were 2 MARBLED GODWITS.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was sighted near 41b & 28B in Delta.


Wednesday, February 24th
Three EARED GREBES were seen from the White Rock Pier.

A PEREGRINE FALCON was observed on a light standard at the Tsawwassen Ferry
Terminal.
