This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Sunday, February 28th, 10:30 PM
update.

Featured birds are Pacific Golden Plover, Golden Eagle, and Horned Lark.

Before tonight's sightings the following should be noted about the location
change for this coming Thursday's, VNHS Birder's Night.

The location for this meeting only has been changed to the York House
School at the southwest corner of Granville and West King Edward. Parking
is available in a lot on West 26th Avenue one block south of King Edward.
Street parking is also available. The meeting room is located in the
basement of the building closest to Granville. The meeting room entrance
is roughly in the middle of the west side of the building. This door only
opens from the Inside. If you arrive after the meeting has started the
door will be checked every several minutes to let in late arrivals. Due to
the limited kitchen facilities please bring your own mug and refreshments..

Sightings for Sunday, February 8th
The Burrard Inlet Environmental Action Plan conducted it's February bird
Survey today. The following birds were reported. From Ambleside Park in
West Van a HORNED LARK was observed on the rock jetty west of the Capilano
River mouth. At Barnet Marine Park a SPOTTED SANDPIPER was sighted. On
Indian Arm south of the Buntzen Power Generating Plant were a GOLDEN EAGLE,
PEREGRINE FALCON and a BONAPARTE'S GULL.

The ROSS'S GOOSE was reported from Coquitlam's Como Lake Park.

The PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER was again located on 64th south of the RR
crossing.

The HARRIS'S and AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen east of 13846 - 40th Ave.
in Surrey.

The HARRIS'S SPARROW that has been frequenting the 2500 block of West 12th
Ave. for most of this winter was again reported.

SHORT-EARED OWLS were found in abundance today with 2 at the foot of 72nd,
2 along 31A, 1 at the BB Reg Park, 1 near the foot of the Tsawwassen Jetty,
and 1 on 52nd north of Hwy 17.

A GLAUCOUS GULL was reported on Burns Dr. in Delta.

Ten EURASIAN WIGEON and a EURASIAN RACE GREEN-WINGED TEAL were spotted from
the Roberts Bank Jetty.


Saturday, February 27th
A HARRIS'S SPARROW and an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW were seen at 13846 - 40th
Ave. Surrey.

In a flock of 500 DUNLIN along the Iona/Sea Island causeway were 18 WESTERN
SANDPIPERS.

The WILLET was seen on the south shore at the base of the Tsawwassen Jetty.


Friday, February 26th
The PRAIRIE FALCON was reported from it's usual location at the foot of
34th in Delta.

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen grazing with Canada Geese at the
Burnaby Lake Sports Centre on Kennsington Ave. in Burnaby.

A GREEN HERON was observed near the residence of 4637 W 37th in Vancouver..

A single ROCK SANDPIPER was sighted at Stanley Park's Ferguson Point.
