Any reason it couldn't have been slain by a great horned owl? They're known
to take
Canada geese, and I believe they typically go for the brains first. And an
owl
certainly wouldn't drag off a goose.

Of course, all bets are off on what might have come to dine after the
original kill.

This morning I checked on the dead Canada Goose I reported on yesterday.
The
goose had been dragged about five feet from yesterday morning. About the
front 1/3 had the feathers removed and the body eaten. The goose was still
laying on its belly. I did not look like the flesh had been torn away. It
looked more like it had been pecked away as it was very neatly done.
