Tweeters,
The 12/31/98 Port Townsend Marine Science Center cruise to Protection
Island was re-routed due to the rather stiff westerly winds on the strait
of Juan de Fuca.
We chose the alternate trip through the cut between Indian Island, into
Mats Mats Bay, on to Ludlow Bay, back through the cut & into Kilisut
Harbor. This trip in the lee resulted in great sightings with perhaps the
highlight being the Red Throated Loon in Mats Mats Bay. Lots of birds &
actually great weather.
