To put Tyler's messages in context, let me remind everyone of the old
joke about the kid who's taking a walk with his father. The kid asks a
question and his father says, "Gee, I'm sorry, son, I don't know." A few
minutes later, the kid asks another question and gets a similar answer.
This goes on a couple of times more, and the kid says, "I hope I'm not
bothering you with all these questions, Dad," and his father says, "Of
course not, son, if you don't ask questions, how will you ever learn
anything?"

So I suggest we all say, "Welcome, Tyler . . . and any other young
birders who may be lurking in cyberspace," and do our best to answer the
questions. My only reservation is that young people tend to turn first to
internet sources for information, and I think we should also encourage
them to make good use of some silly, old-fashioned devices called
"books," commonly available in ancient institutions called "libraries."
