I've been an indifferent birder for about 10 years, but have
recently bought the Canon Image Stabilizers 10x30 binocs
(~$500) and they have made a world of difference for me. I
can see the birds well enough to identify them, and don't
get that "shaky" feeling as my glass wobbles. Only my
arms get tired! I tried mine out several times at Kenmore
Camera in Kenmore before I bought (Gina was great); don't
know where you might take a practice look down there, but
you could call around.
