Hi folks,

Finally got back home and to a computer, and thought I'd share my
sightings in the Seahurst (Burien, King Co) area over the Christmas
break. While I didn't do any hard-core birding, I saw the following few
species from 22-27 December 1998 while enjoying the holiday cheer
with relatives.

The most amazing thing, to me, was seeing Anna's Hummingbirds when
the local temperatures were in the low 20s!! Feeling sorry for them, I
found a feeder, filled it, and set it up at my in-laws' about the time the
temperatures soared into the 40s, and the feeder was immediately used
by an adult male and another (green...) bird. How low can these birds
go? Do they go into torpor when the days/nights get into the 'teens?
