The female Tacoma peregrine died over the New Year's weekend,
apparently after diving headlong into wires supporting the 11th Street
Bridge.

My USGS colleague who gave me the news this morning said that he'd seen
the body, which had been recovered by a visiting falcon watcher.

The male Tacoma peregrine, who has had little luck in keeping
prospective mates for long, has now lost the first female to bond
securely with him since she showed up last April.

The male was perched alone on the 11th Street Bridge yesterday.
