During my wonderful few days off work, we had some unusual visitors
to our yard. The first was a flock of House Finches sporting
individuals of every shade from bright red through orange to yellow.
At one point I had 3 males in one binoc view, one each of bright red,
bright orange, and bright yellow. Nice comparison. Haven't seen any
of them since.

Then on the first we had an unusual junco. The markings matched the
"gray-headed" form in the NGS field guide, but it seemed larger than
the gray-headed juncos we saw in Arizona (could have been fluffed up
from the cold). Does anyone know of this form occuring this far
north? Or is there an intergrade of other forms that would look like
this?
