There appears to be much confusion going on about what license or permit
you need to visit WDFW improved access sites. So, here is the latest from
the person who is assisting in implementing the program, Mr. Fraidenberg.

You do NOT need the permit until April 1, 1999. If you plan to hunt or
fish you will need an interim license (you get one vehicle permit with each
hunt or fish license). The reason is that WDFW is changing its' license
year from Jan 1-Dec. 31 to April 1 to March 31. Therefore, they do not
want an interim vehicle permit. Therefore, no need until April 1.

There is the Vehicle Use Permit (some of you call is a conservation
license. No, it is not, that is a dead program), and it is likely to be
called an Access Stewardship Permit when all is said and done. All the
money from this $10 fee goes to maintaining ONLY improved access sites -
parking lots, pumping toilets, boat ramps and such.

There is also a Conservation Patron Permit. The money from this goes to
wildlife management (just as the now defunct conservation license fees
did). It does cost more, $20. You get a vehicle use decal with this and
it will be good until March 31, 2000. Keep in mind that the money is all
for those species without an adipose fin that now find themselves in
desperate need of funding.
So, where do you get one of these......they are not yet available. WDFW
is still working this out.

I hope this clears up the misunderstandings.
