Red Crossbills moved out of the Idaho panhandle sometime last summer
and have been virtually absent since then. I have been out birding
regularly
in the area and have not seen any since at least last July. As well
there have been no reports of White-winged Crossbill in northern Idaho
(or eastern Idaho as far as I know) since last winter. There have been
more reports of Pine Grosbeak than last winter but its hardly an
invasion. Will be interesting to see what happens as the winter
proceeds.
