If I recall, ravens are often reported by the climbing parties
on Mt. Everest. Furthermore, flocks of migrating birds are
often reported flying over the Himalayans.

Reminds me of an experience I had flying into Seattle a couple
months ago on a DC-10. We were at that point just before the plane
was to drop down into the clouds and Puget Sound's eternal grayness.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue, all was great before we
entered Seattle's monochrome world. I looked out the
window and thought I spotted a nearby small plane, but then the plane
flapped its wings. I don't know our altitude at the time, but
apparently an eagle was up there too, above the clouds, "enjoying"
the sunshine.

I watched a program last night about climbing Mt. Everest.The climbers
set up a camp at 26,000 feet and what do I see come into view--a bird
soaring above the climbers. I couldn't tell the size with nothing but
sky around it.

Does any one have any ideas what kind of bird soars at over 26,000
feet.
