Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, 7:04 p.m. Hi this is Alan Knue at
206-706-2550. Today I birded southern B.C. with a number of
other birders from Seattle and California. We birded from Reifel
Refuge down to about Crescent Beach. The best birds were
NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, one individual along the east
dike at Reifel, and a BRAMBLING, one bird at Blackie's Spit,
probably the same bird that's been present there since Dec. 6th.
That's all. Good luck and good birding.

Saturday, Jan. 9th, 5:11 p.m. This Scott Hoskins,
206-789-8990. Correction to my previous report about the
SNOWY OWL on the Skagit Flats. After talking with Bud
Anderson, I got a better look at the bird. It is actually Tag No.
12, not No. 2 as on the previous report. That's about it. Good
luck and good birding.

Saturday, Jan. 9th, 4:27 p.m. This is Scott Hoskins,
206-789-8990. Report for Jan. 9th Saturday. Trip to Skagit
Flats. Had a SNOWY OWL in between Field Road and Sunset
Road, just west of Thomas. It was there most of the day. It's a
tagged bird, No. 2, yellow tag with black number. And also had
at least four PEREGRINES, MERLIN, a KESTREL and a
PRAIRIE FALCON just at the 90-degree turn. That's about it.
Lots of ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and lots of RED-TAILS
and BALD EAGLES. Good luck and good birding.

Saturday, Jan. 9, 3:12 p.m. Hi, this is Dan Stephens from
Wenatchee. I'm reporting a gorgeous little RUSTIC BUNTING.
I believe it's a first-year, a first basic plumage male. A
sportsman visiting a feeder of a former ecology student of mine
several times a day (inaudible) see this bird. Student of mine
lives near Leavenworth, and she obviously is welcoming birders
to her house. But she justs asks that you call before you come
to see the bunting. Her name is Connie McCauley and her
number is 509-548-5582. Again, this is Dan Stephens. And my
number if you want more information about this little bird is
509-664-2503 at work or 509-663-5323 at home. Thanks.

Friday, Jan. 8, 7:21 a.m. Hi, this is Tom Aversa at
206-782-7342. I have a few birds to report from the last couple
of days. On the 6th, Grays Harbor County, Elma, west of Elma,
just about the Chehalis River, place in the DeLorme Atlas that is
marked as Huttula Lake, sort of a temporary water area, there
were four SWALLOWS in there. There was three VIOLET
GREENS and a TREE SWALLOW, kind of unusual I guess.
There was also in this same part of the county in Brady, there
was a SCRUB JAY and a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at
the intersection of Dwinell Road and Brady Loop Road in Brady.
Reports from yesterday, there were two TREE SPARROWS in
Stanwood. One was at the end of Eide(?) Road, at least one.
Then there also another one just north of Normana Farm on
Norman Road. Then there was a couple of SHORT-EARED
OWLS at the West 90 up in Samish Flats.

Thursday, Jan. 7, 10:58 p.m. Hi, this is Jim Flynn at
206-772-5568. Today a friend reported to me that he saw a
possible PRAIRIE FALCON just west of Enumclaw. The bird
was seen at the intersection of S.E. 424th Street and 208th
Avenue S.E., which is just a few miles west of Enumclaw. The
bird was seen shortly after that a little bit further south along
208th. If anybody has a chance to check that out, I'd be
interested in hearing about it. Bye bye.
