Subject: Mima Mounds Kite; duck massacre

Thanks to the postings from several others in recent weeks, Kris Baker and I
found a white tailed (black shouldered) kite yesterday; we saw and heard at
least one from the observation platform as dusk approached.

The outrageous news: toward the west end (Bordeaux Rd?), by the closed Mima
Mounds access gate/interpretive sign, was a pile of discarded ducks, about
16 in all. Gadwalls and widgeons, dumped all together in the ditch, a
deliberate and heinous act on somebody's part.
