I've banded over 85,000 birds of over 300 species, both on various
station permits as well as my personal one as a wildlife biologist. I
started banding in this state in l986 after I retired to keep me from
chasing cars and out from underfoot of my Better Half. 9l8 were Song
Sparrows of which 774 were banded in the Sequim area. I have had many
retraps of birds I have banded, but no recovery reports from other
areas. So in this area of relatively mild winters and low elevations and
the lack of recovery reports from elswhere, I am of the conclusion our
Song Sparrows are nonmigratory. What the situation is elswhere I cannot
say.
