If the thistle feeder is designed properly, the holes can be above the perch. The
Pine Siskins and the Goldfinches can extract the seed but the House Finch and
House Sparrows have too thick a beak to get the seed out.

I don't have that problem with my feeders. Could the reason be that it is made
from PVC pipe which is 1/8" thick? The clear plastic ones are very thin and I
think the condensation would form easier--maybe??
