We used to have robins come and eat fermenting berries in our
backyard too. The results were never this severe, however, they
would come to our sliding glass door to fight with their reflections,
and leave messy little purple berry piles all over the porch. We put
up newspaper along the bottom of the outside of the door to
discourage them, but it just resulted in them climbing on our bikes
to get above the paper and leaving piles on the seats & handlebars.
