Murray and tweeters:

A couple othe possible sources besides the one just mentioned by Ian Paulsen:

Gillham,E., and B.Gillham. 1996. Hybrid ducks: a contribution towards an
inventory. Published by B.L. Gillham, Wallington, Surrey, UK. 88pages. (I
haven't seen this book. It was reviewed last year in the Journal of Field
Ornithology, vol. 69, page 350. Univ. of Wash. Lib might have it.)

Merrifield, K. 1993. Eurasia X American Wigeons in western Oregon.
Western Birds 24:105-107. It has black and white drawings of three hybrids,
and cites several other articles dealing with these hybrids. From these I
get the feeling that there may be quite a bit of variation between the
hybrids.

>A little help here, please . . . what are we looking for to distinguish the
>hybrid from the real thing? Can't find anything in the Madge/Burn "Waterfowl"
>book that talks about hybridization of the two species. There's obviously
>something I've missed--would appreciate a reference.
