Featured birds for this evenings report are:

Brambling (BRAM);
Rusty Blackbird (RUBL);
Greater White-fronted Goose (GWFG); and out of town
Say's Phoebe (SAPH).

The adult male BRAMBLING in basic plumage was again at Blacky Spit in the
afternoon. It associates with sparrows and shoreline trees and shrubs on
the north side at the low pilings that span the mouth of Farm Slough.

The RUSTY BLACKBIRD was again at Briden Park Nature Lagoon west of 53rd
Avenue and 198th street in Langley. The bird associates with BREWER'S
BLACKBIRDS that begin to congregate on the hydro wires in the late afternoon
from about 3:45 pm on.

Also, in Langley Three GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were in the stubble field
to the south west of 8th Avenue and 184th Street.

And still in Langley, there was no relocation of the 2 WHITE THROATED
SPARROWS seen in Portage Park yesterday.

Out of town near Duncan, a SAY'S PHOEBE has been present for several weeks.
The bird hawks for insects from atop the highway tire building about 4 km

Wednesday, January 13 1999.

Two Tan morph WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were at Portage Park in Langley.
Portage Park is at the foot of 204th street where it meets the north side of
the Nikolmeko River Flood plain. The birds were in brambles near an
uprooted deciduous tree about 40 yards in from the parking entrance.

The HARRIS' SPARROW was again in the vicinity of the back lane behind 2564
West 12th Vancouver. It also visits the feeder across the lane and two
houses to the east.

A MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was in the front yard of 269 West 63rd Avenue in
Vancouver.

Two CRESTED MYNAHS were at Marine Drive and Angus.

The AMERICAN DIPPER was again at Stanley Park in the Beaver Lake outflow
near the first bridge.


Tuesday January 12th 1999.

A SNOW BUNTING was on the Iona south Jetty just beyond the first shelter.

One AMERICAN DIPPER was at Lynne Creek, North Vancouver where a side stream
enters the creek north of the old landfill.


Monday January 11th 1999.

Two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were in Richmond on the east side of number
two road, a half a block north of Muncton.

Out of town in the Okanagan, a COMMON GRACKLE was at Douglas Lake Village
east of Douglas Lake near Merrit.


Sunday January 10th 1999.

In Washington State, a RUSTIC BUNTING is frequenting a feeder at Levenworth,
about a four hour drive from Vancouver. For information and directions
