Tuesday, Jan. 12, 4:08 p.m. Hello, this is Kraig Kemper,
206-789-9255, reporting for Tuesday, Jan. 12. Birding the
Skagit Wildlife Management Area between 1:45 and 3 p.m. I
located one SWAMP SPARROW and one WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW. To find the WHITE-THROATED SPARROW,
leave the boat launch parking lot from the southwest corner,
and the bird was to the left of the hedgerow in front of you just
about 100 feet. To locate the SWAMP SPARROW, this bird
was on a hedgerow east of the central dike from the main
parking lot. Taking that dike road south, look in the field to the
east, about 100 yards short of where that field ends. The bird
was seen with a large group of TOWHEE,
GOLDEN-CROWNED, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS and
SONG SPARROWS. Thank you.
