This is the Vancouver Rare Bird Alert for Saturday January 16, update.
Featured birds for this evenings report are:

Brambling;
Long-billed Curlew; and
Marbled Godwit.

The adult male BRAMBLING in basic plumage was again at Blacky Spit in the
afternoon. It associates with sparrows and shoreline trees and shrubs on
the north side at the low pilings that span the mouth of Farm Slough. The
LONG-BILLED CURLEW and MARBLED GODWIT were also in the area.

The MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was again at the front yard feeders of 269 west 63rd
st Vancouver.

Two CRESTED MYNAHS were on 22nd between Oak and Osler.

Seven BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were at Ferguson Point in Stanley Park.


Friday January 15th 1999

The BRAMBLING, LONG-BILLED CURLEW and MARBLED GODWIT were at Blackie Spit.

The HARRIS' SPARROW was in the vicinity of 2564 west 12th st in Vancouver
and can be seen from the back lane

The RUSTY BLACKBIRD was again at Briden Park Nature Lagoon, Langley west of
53rd Avenue and 198th street in Langley. The bird associates with BREWER'S
BLACKBIRDS that begin to congregate on the hydro wires in the late afternoon
from about 3:45 pm on.

One SWAMP SPARROW and one BARN SWALLOW were at Reifel Refuge.

Eight SNOW BUNTINGS were on the Tssawassen ferry jetty. Two CRESTED MYNAHS
were at 2nd and Wylie Vancouver

Two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were at number two road and muncton in the
Steveston area, Richmond.


Thursday January 14, 1999

The adult male BRAMBLING was at Blacky Spit in the afternoon and the RUSTY
BLACKBIRD was again at Briden Park Nature Lagoon, Langley west of 53rd
Avenue and 198th street in Langley. Also in Langley three GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were in the stubble field to the southwest of 8th Ave.
and 184th street

Out of town near Duncan on Vancouver Island, a SAY'S PHOEBE has been present
for several weeks. The bird hawks for insects from atop the highway tire
building about 4 km north of Duncan. For more information please contact
