This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

A RUSTIC BUNTING, possibly a first basic plumaged male, has been seen
in Leavenworth, Chelan County, Washington. Dan Stephens reported
seeing it last Saturday, January 9. The bird is at the home of Connie
McCully (sp?) and you are requested to call ahead before visiting.

In Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho this week were many of the same
good birds reported last week. Charles Swift reports the LONG-EARED
OWL, NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL and HARRIS'S SPARROW were still residing in
Hell's Gate SP when he checked on January 13. Also in the park
Saturday January 9 was a WESTERN SCREECH-OWL. Look for the owls in
the evergreens around the picnic / beach area. Look for the adult
HARRIS'S SPARROW in the weedy, dry impoundments between the marina and
the picnic / beach area.

A EURASIAN WIGEON was seen Saturday January 9 in the same general area
by Carole Vande Voorde. This bird was in Kiwanis Park. To get to
Hell's Gate and Kiwanis from the north end of Lewiston, follow US 12
across the Clearwater River and then stay right past the first traffic
light. At the next light, which is 18th Street, turn right and follow
the bypass until it ends at Snake River Avenue. Turn right onto Snake
River. The first parking area on the right is Kiwanis Park. Continue
south on Snake River Avenue to Hell's Gate SP entrance. ID DeLorme

The adult MEW GULL reported last week by Jeff Wisman in Spokane,
Washington is probably the same bird reported this week by Warren
Hall. Last week Jeff saw the bird in Riverfront Park in downtown
Spokane. Today, Warren found the bird loafing with Ring-billed's on a
gravel bar just upstream from Riverfront Park. The bird was near
Riverfront Blvd just east of Division. If you follow the Centennial
Trail, you can view the gravel bar from the south side of the river.

A flock of 300+ GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were seen on January 13 by
Jim Acton and Warren Hall in Grant County, Washington. The birds were
near the intersection of 47 NE and V NE. This is about 5 miles
northwest of Almira, Washington. WA DeLorme 85, B-8.
