This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.
The SNOWY OWL reported from Moses Lake, Grant County, Washington in
mid-December was seen this past week by Cindy McCormack. She found
the bird in its usual haunt just east of Moses Lake near Road L NE and
Nelson Road. Washington DeLorme 69, CD-7.
Dave Holick and I birded around northern Nez Perce County, Idaho and
Lewiston, Idaho today. Highlights included a "Suckleyi" MERLIN just
south of the jct of US 95 and the road to Genesee. We also had 15
species of waterfowl on the levee ponds and on the Clearwater Riverin
Lewiston, including a GREATER SCAUP. Of interest to Moscow area
birders might be LONG-EARED OWLS on Coyote Grade and a SHORT-EARED OWL
about 3 miles north of Genesee on the Troy-Genesee Road.
If you need any information about the sightings, give me a call at
208-883-0943.
Good birding.
