Hi, Tweets

Lucifer, my old goose, is the best hawkwatcher in the surrounding area. He
has in his long lifetime spotted redtails, harriers, goshawks, turkey
vultures, eagles, and ospreys from my backyard. And he has tolerated
feisty sharpies and Coops sitting in his trees and diving at small birds
near him. Just a crook of his head skyward and I know something is up
there - he ignores most planes.

Stuck at home with paperwork today, I looked out while trying to heat up a
slice of frozen pizza and he was definitely in a "spotting" mood with head
crooked and eye peering upwards. Upon going out on the deck, I saw two
large raptors circling straight above, quite high. Two immature bald
eagles, one quite larger. They drifted higher and higher then one
disappeared. I watched the first bird for a couple minutes, wondering
where the other had gone when, all of a sudden a very large bird skimmed
over just above the treetops - the other eagle checking out Lucifer was all
I could assume. He circled once, then left (looking for duck, I guess).
Quite a sight on an at-home day.

Also had a white-throated sparrow under the hedge with the juncos, varied
thrushes, and song sparrows.

Cheers, Diann
