This is the Vancouver Rare Bird Alert 8:50pm update for Friday January 22.
Featured birds for this evenings report are:

SAY'S PHOEBE
SLATY-BACKED GULL
PRAIRIE FALCON

A SAY'S PHOEBE was seen in Aldergrove this afternoon along zero avenue about
one kilometer east of 256 Street. It was observed fly catching from the
fence line on the US side, then it flew off to the southwest.

The SLATY-BACKED GULL was in a very large gull flock at Burn's Drive at 96th
street in south Delta.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was at 28th Ave and 48th Street in south Delta. It was
seen flying towards Bunswick Point.

The BRAMBLING at Blackie Spit has not been reported since January 16th. Has
anyone seen it since? Please let the bird alert know.



Thursday January 21, 1999

A GYR FALCON was at south Delta near 28th Ave. and highway 17.



Wednesday January 20, 1999

One tan morph WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was in Portage Park in brambles just
across the bridge. Portage Park is in Langley at the foot of 204th Street
where it meets the north side of the Nickomekl River floodplain.

The RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen again in the late afternoon at Bryden Park
Nature Lagoon, at 53rd Ave and 198th St. in Langley.

Two ROCK SANDPIPERS were at Ferguson Point Stanley Park



Monday January 18 1999

Near Duncan on Vancouver Island, the SAY'S PHOEBE was seen again. The bird
is frequenting several automotive related business places on a frontage road
just off highway No. 1, about 4 km north of Duncan, and has been present
there since December 12th. The staff of Goodyear Highway Tire at 7329
TransCanada Highway have kindly agreed to provide what current information
they can. Call 250-748-5811, during business hours, otherwise updates
