Hi Tweeters,
Hey for all those pelagic fans out there good news on a rare bird. We have a
research vessel working off Langara Island in the Queen Charlottes, B.C.
right now. They reported a juvenile Short-tailed Albatross followed the boat
for 3 days last week. The 2 people we have are trained in bird id and one
of them has a great camera (she got 2 photos of Short-tails this past
summer). I'll send on the photos when I get them. There was speculation
that we would see some of the non-breeders on our winter surveys. Very cool.
Anyone who doesn't know what these amazing birds look like check out this
page I put together from our past surveys.
