update. The featured birds for this evenings report are:

SLATY-BACKED GULL;
PRAIRIE FALCON;
GYR FALCON; and
BLUE JAY.

The SLATY-BACKED GULL was in a very large gull flock of gulls this morning
at Burn's Drive and 98th street.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was near the foot of 34th street.

A GYR FALCON was along highway 17 between 52nd street and Splashdown Park

The eastern BLUE JAY was in the neighborhood of Inglewood Place and Ivywood
Place. All of these locations of the SLATY-BACKED GULL, the PRAIRIE, GYR
FALCON and BLUE JAY are in Delta.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was at Boundary Bay Regional Park, Tswwassen.

Four EARED GREBES were off the White Rock west beach.



Sunday January 24 1999.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was at the foot of 34th street in the Brunswick Point
area, of Delta

Four CRESTED MYNAHS were behind Autotech collision repair, 371 west 2nd, in
the 2nd and Wylie area, east of the Cambie Street Bridge.

The SWAMP SPARROW, a VIRGINIA RAIL, a GREAT-HORNED OWL, and up to 5 NORTHERN
SAW-WHET OWLS were at Reifel Refuge.

At Iona 2 HERMIT THRUSHES were in Canfor Point east of the plant buildings.

Two MARBLED GODWITS are still at Boundary Bay Park, Tswwassen.

Three SHORT-EARED OWLS and one WESTERN MEADOWLARK were along the Boundary
Bay dyke between 64th and 22nd St.


Saturday January 23, 1999

The eastern BLUE JAY is still being seen in the vicinity of Inglewood place,
north Delta. Nearby a HERMIT THRUSH was on Briarwood Crescent.

The MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE is again visiting front yard feeders at 269 west 63rd
in Vancouver.

One ROCK SANDPIPER was with BLACK TURNSTONES south of Ferguson Point in
Stanley Park. Also at Stanley Park the AMERICAN DIPPER was at the Beaver
lake outfall just west of the Pipeline Road bridge.

Out of town near Duncan on Vancouver Island, a SAY'S PHOEBE was present
again. The bird is frequenting several automotive related business places
on a frontage road just off highway No. 1, about 4 km north of Duncan, and
has been present there since December 12th. The staff of Goodyear Highway
Tire at 7329 TransCanada Highway have kindly agreed to provide what current
