This is the Vancouver BC Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday January 27 8:45pm
update. The featured birds for this evenings report are:

SLATY-BACKED GULL and
MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE.

The adult SLATY-BACKED GULL was again in a very large gull flock of gulls
this morning along Burn's Drive near 88th, Delta.

Still in Delta a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE has been visiting a peanut feeder at
6590 Kempses Cr. (spelling?) for two weeks. Birders may watch the feeder on
the right side of the house by looking over the gate, but please do not
enter the yard.


Tuesday January 26 1999.

The adult SLATY-BACKED GULL was with large gull flock of gulls this morning
along Burn's Drive near 88th St.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was near the foot of 34th street.

A GYR FALCON was along highway 17 between 52nd street and Splashdown Park

The eastern BLUE JAY was in the neighborhood of Inglewood Place and Ivywood
Place. All of these locations for the SLATY-BACKED GULL, the PRAIRIE, GYR
FALCON and BLUE JAY are in Delta.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was at Boundary Bay Regional Park, Tswwassen.

Four EARED GREBES were off the White Rock west beach.


Monday January 25 1999, there were no reports.


Sunday January 24 1999.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was at the foot of 34th street in the Brunswick Point
area, of Delta

Four CRESTED MYNAHS were behind Autotech collision repair, 371 west 2nd, in
the 2nd and Wylie area, east of the Cambie Street Bridge.

The SWAMP SPARROW, a VIRGINIA RAIL, a GREAT-HORNED OWL, and up to 5 NORTHERN
SAW-WHET OWLS were at Reifel Refuge.

At Iona 2 HERMIT THRUSHES were in Canfor Point east of the plant buildings.

Two MARBLED GODWITS are still at Boundary Bay Park, Tswwassen.

Three SHORT-EARED OWLS and one WESTERN MEADOWLARK were along the Boundary
Bay dyke between 64th and 22nd St.
