Hi Tweets!

This morning while driving up the Kent-DesMoines Road past the old
landfill I saw a "weird" looking bird in flight.

I think it was a PILEATED WOODPECKER......I know it wasn't a heron, crow
or raptor. It was very large, and its wings were quite broad and deeply
curved and its flight was casual. The wing span seemed in proportion to
the body. The bird was a dark outline against the cloudy sky.

And speaking of "Woody", one of my co-workers has one regularly drum on
the skylight of her house. She says its quite unnerving at 4:00 am. She
also says it resonates all over the house!

PS, Will swallows pick on hawks the way crows do? I think I saw a
swallow joining in with a gang of crows picking on a REDTAIL HAWK.
