I was in the basement when the earthquake hit, had a roly poly
movement for about 10 seconds. Went upstairs to check with the wife
and our cat was quite comfortable and couldn't have cared less
about any old earthquake.

White-crowned sparrows have invaded our yard in the last two days.

Our chickadee nestbox is officially being rearranged by the wannabe
parents. They are furiously diving in the box, flying back out with
a beakfull of wood shavings, landing on an electric wire, where they
shake their head and scatter the shavings to the wind.

I'll put fewer shavings in next time. I think they want the nest
further down in the box.

I've been keeping the blackoil sunflower seed feeder filled this
winter, i mean, summer. This afternoon i took it down for cleaning.
As I was putting it back up, the chickadees were hovering around
me, within inches. Their call was very much like,
"Hurry up up up. Feeda me me me."
