update.

The Rare Bird Alert continues for AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN.

Sightings for Saturday, July 3
The AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was again present off the Robert's Bank Jetty.
Also seen was a total of 380 GREAT BLUE HERON.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was observed hunting near the foot of 72nd Ave.

An ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD is frequenting a feeder in the 1600 block of
Scarborough Cres. in Port Coquitlam.

On the VNHS outing to Colony Farm 3 GREEN HERONS, a BARN OWL and a singing
LAZULI BUNTING were observed. The Bunting was in the southeast section of
the park in the 2nd field north of the woods.

Another LAZULI BUNTING was reported in the 3700 block of Pine Cres. in
Vancouver. The bird was coming to a feeder and was also observed perched
on power lines in the area.

Sightings for Friday, July 2
The LITTLE GULL was again present on Iona Bay near the dirt mound.

The AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was again reported from the Robert's Bank Jetty
on a concrete pillar close to a cormorant colony.

Large numbers of shorebirds were reported from Iona. 3,000 WESTERN, 250
SEMIPALAMTED, 150 LEAST, and a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER. Also reported were a
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 22 LESSER and 1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS. Over head were
500+ BLACK SWIFTS and 300 VAUX'S SWIFTS.

Thursday, July 1
The LITTLE GULL was reported from Iona Bay.

Two AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were observed in Moody Arm. The were seen near
Reed Point Marina then later off the pier at Rocky Point Park in Port
Moody. It is highly likely there are 3 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS in the
area. A point of interest to anyone going to locate these 2 birds. Sunday
is the last day of City of Port Moody's annual Golden Spike Days. This
event has forced some street closures and limited the parking in some
areas.

Wednesday, June 30
The 2 American White Pelicans were seen in Port Moody off Rocky Point Park.

Tuesday, June 29
3 WESTERN and 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS were all in the same small dead tree in
the west meadow of Maplewood Mud Flats in North Vancouver.

50 BLACK SWIFTS were over 100th Avenue and 144th Street in Surrey.
