Hi Tweets,

we had another Chipping Sparrow sighting on last Sunday's (4/7/99)
Squamish Estuary Bird Count. At that time, it seemed odd - the second
record in 6 years - but the observer was familiar with them from seeing
lots of them on a trip to the interior the week before. Now, with the
other
sightings around Vancouver and further south, that starts to fit a
pattern! (tweeters be thanked)

Now, why this year? Could it be that they were also diverted from their
usual migration routes, as were the Mountain Bluebirds earlier on? Could
they then have chosen to set up territory on the west instead of the east
side of the mountains?
BTW, where is the Lacey clearcut? West side?
