Heermann's Gulls are tough to find in the south end of Puget Sound. And
this may be a first or second record for Mason Co. Yesterday in mid
afternoon at the mouth of Kennedy Creek at the south end of Mason Co. where
Hwy #101 goes north into Mason Co. there was one Heermann's Gull in with a
large gull flock roosting on the mud along with Caspian Terns. This was
about one hour before high tide.

Also some shorebirds were seen there as well. They were Short-billed
Dowitcher (1), Western and Least Sandpipers about 10 each, and Killdeer
(12). We did not find any Semipalmated Sandpipers, but they could show up
at any time seeing that they are early migrants. Any one interested should
check this place out.
