Hello Tweets,

Today I birded the Sunrise area at Mt.Rainier NP, with great weather and
views of the Olympics, and the major peaks and mountains within "our" north
and central Cascade range despite the distant pollution layer, which
allowed only the tops of the peaks to show. I birded from 6:30am to 3pm
with notable species that included:

1 WHITE-TAILED PTARMIGAN(photographed)
1 CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD
1 HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER
25 HORNED LARKS
1 T.SOLITAIRE
1 pair of MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS(nesting at Sunrise lodge)
4 CHIPPING SPARROWS
2 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS
27 FOX SPARROWS(singing on territory)
4 CASSIN'S FINCHES
22 AM.PIPITS
5 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCHES

There is still much SNOW at Sunrise, with many portions of the upper trails
still covered, but it should melt quickly as the weather stays warm. The
trail up to Mt.Fremont is remarkably nearly free of snow, only just above
Frozen Lake, does 2 minor snow patches occur, but the trail up the Second
Burroughs is completely snow covered.
