The best chance of seeing puffins I know is to take one of the Port Townsend
Marine Centers cruises to Protection Island. I have done it twice, seeing
three puffins the first time and about 7 the second year. (You also get a
good look at many alcids.) I believe you can find info on it on the tweeters
web site. I heard about it from Dennis Paulson and got the telephone number
by calling the Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce. It's about $35 and is
worth every penny.
