I live over on Cougar Mountain in Bellevue and have recently become
interested in birding. It all began when I saw this huge bird with a
red head honking loudly and pecking at the trees.

I wasn't aware that this is a somewhat rare bird to see around here
and just wanted to let people know that it tends to hang out in a
wooded lot at the corner of 164th Ave SE and Lakemont Blvd. I live in
the condo complex next door and see him every week or so. He has even
flown into the tree right next to where my wife and I were walking and
stood about 15' above us.

My other favorite birds that are there are the black headed grosbeak,
and there are at least 7 Steller's Jays. They all come to our feeders
and have fun burying peanuts.
