The Peninsula Daily except Saturday had a lot on the fire today.
Forty to 50 acres burned and they expected to lose the lighthouse but the
caretakers of the week turned on the lawn sprinklers when they realized they
were in trouble and the fire went around the lighthouse. The caretakers
(volunteers) were a family of seven. As you might gather the fire was at the
tip. They think it may have been from an illegal campfire that was put out a
couple of weeks before but may have smoldered for that length of time.
