During the major irruption of Snowy Owls three or four winters ago, I saw
them regularly in Skageit County and especially in lower British Columbia at
Boundary Bay and in the Roberts Banks area. I recall that one day at
Boundary Bay I counted 36 in one 180 degree sweep with my scope. Closest
observation distance was about 20 ft. The owl was sitting on a fence and I
was in my car.

Peregrine Falcons (duck hawk) have become more regular during winter in the
Skagit/Samish Flats area. Closest views from approximately 150 ft.,
typically perched on telephone poles and viewed from the car.
