My son-in-law wanted to see a Skylark on his way to Alaska so I told
him what I knew about finding it. On his return from Alaska he said he had
found it. I asked for more information and I enclose his reply. I had not
seen any mention of looking at the airport before. The date would have been
June 8 or 9.

<< The skylark was a piece of cake! The only problem is that it is easy to
spend time looking at the wrong place. As you go north on the freeway out of
Victoria, there is a road labeled as to the airport that goes to the left.
This is the main and as far as I remember the only road so labeled. You take
it and do not bother to scope the many fields along it. You are not allowed
to stop there anyway. You get to the airport and go right by the front door
as if you were taking someone to or from the airport. As you leave their are
some roads to the right that say that you must not go there--restricted. Then
there is a large road to the right that has no restriction and you go right.
If you had known you way, you could have gone left on the way in too. The
takeoff for this road is 100-200 meters from the terminal and the road goes
around the terminal. As you take this road, you watch to the right and find a
small road with an open gate on it. You take this road and go along the fence
towards the terminal. There is a closed gate and some parking spaces there.
Park and turn towards the landing strips. There is a picnic area there on a
mound. You sit down there and scan the airport and scope out what LBJ s you
see and lo and behold they are not all sparrows. They are in the grass
between the concrete runways and fly around when planes land. I would think
it a very uncomfortable place to nest but I guess I do not think like a
skylark. >>
