After having been housebound for weeks, I was able to get out today for my
usual Marymoor Thursday. A nice day too, with cool sunny weather and good
birds. I was joined by Mike West, Joyce Meyers, and Nancy and Jim Patterson.
Highlights were:
Least Sandpiper 1 at the weir
Virginia Rail 1 at the far side of the weir
Western Wood-pewee Joyce Meyers found a nest just above the trail
Green Heron From the lake platform
Osprey Flying repeatedly over the lake
Hooded Merganser Young? at rowing club
Wood Duck 3 young at rowing club
Red-tailed Hawk Young one SCREAMING at rowing club
Bullock's Oriole 1st spring male at rowing club
Plus - lots of fledged young of many species in evidence, including an
inordinate number of Swainson's Thrush, an adult feeding a young Black-headed
Grosbeak, a family of Yellow Warbler, and a Common Yellowthroat feeding a
cowbird :(
Over 40 species for the morning.
