Hi All
This morning's birding at the north end of Kootenay Lake was an absolute
treat. First we had a break in the rainy, cool, dismal summer [NOT] weather;
it was mostly sunny with no wind. Second, I was amazed with the number of
young birds out and about: American Robins (2), Lazuli Bunting, Pied-billed
Grebe, Belted Kingfisher, American Redstart, Western Tanager (4), Willow
Flycatcher, MacGillivray's Warbler, Cassin's Vireo, and Yellow-rumped
Warbler.
BTW, does anyone one have any definitions and or comments about the
terminology for these youngsters: fledglings, first year bird, hatch year
bird, ... ?
Cheers
