The Indigo Bunting that was reported near West Richland, WA, was still there
at 8:30 this morning. It was singing repeatedly for the twenty minutes that
I observed it.
>From Interstate 82 at Benton City take Hwy 224 to West Richland; turn left
on 62nd, and then left on Harrison Rd. or Yakima River Rd. (these two roads
parallel each other for about half a mile); go half a mile northwest to
Grosscup Rd.; turn right and go over the bridge. On the north side of the
river turn left on Snively Rd. Follow Snively just over a quarter of a mile
and park just before the road curves to the left. There is a double gate
leading into a pasture area about 100 yards south of the curve on the east
side of the road. The bunting was seen in the Russian Olives that run from
the gates to the curve in the road. It was also seen singing from the top
of a brush pile just north of the gates.
It has been there since Monday and should probably stay around a while longer.
